The Power of Prayer

Luke 18:1 (KJV): And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

A life of prayer is one of the surest ways to invest in an everlasting legacy.

Each moment you spend in the presence of God does not benefit you alone. It is a seed whose fruits will also be enjoyed by your children in the generations to come.

History has given us countless examples of great men and women whose foundations can be traced back to praying parents. Here are just a few.

John Wesley, one of the greatest evangelists of the 1700s was raised by a praying mother. While raising ten children, Susannah Wesley spent two hours a day in prayer herself. It is said that some days, she would not find a place of solitude so she would lift her apron over her head to be alone with God and pray with the children playing around her.

Mary Washington, mother to George Washington, one of the founding fathers of America raised her children on God’s strength. It is recorded that she went to a nearby rock outside of her house to pray continually.

In the words of the author, E.M Bounds, ‘Prayers are deathless. The lips that uttered them may be closed in death, the heart that felt them may have ceased to beat, but the prayers live before God, and God’s heart is set on them and prayers outlive the lives of those who uttered them; outlive a generation, outlive an age, outlive a world.’

Child of God, PRAY like a man or woman who knows that the next generation depends on you. It does!

Hallelujah!

GOLDEN NUGGET: Each moment you spend in the presence of God does not benefit you alone. It is a seed whose fruits will also be enjoyed by your children in the generations to come.

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this word. I understand the power of prayer and yield my heart to the Spirit of grace and supplication. I pray with a vision of the future, knowing that generations to come are aligned because I prayed earnestly and fervently today, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
